Who is Jesénia?
Jesénia Jackson is a composer, songwriter, and orchestrator. Jesénia has served as the music director for shows such as BeyMani Vintage Fashion Show, CabaVegas, Little Women, and more. She has also served as assistant to the orchestrator on the Off Broadway musical,TREVOR, and was afforded the opportunity to arrange strings for Dreamgirls' "And I Am Telling You" for The Broadway Sitzprobe. Her concert piece, STAGES (I Movement) has been performed by The PHACE Ensemble in Vienna, Austria. Her most recent film scores include AJ's Story, The Bell Affair, and Sonny's Blues (New York Shorts International Film Festival). As a songwriter, Jesénia released her first EP, Introducing Jesénia Jackson, in June 2022.
Jesénia has served as the Women In Music Washington, D.C. Chapter Chair (2021-2023), member of the New York Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL), Alliance for Women Film Composers (AWFC), and piano & vocal instructor at The International School of Music. She is currently the Lower School Music Teacher at Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City. She has been awarded Honorary Member of Tau Beta Sigma Music Fraternity and nominee for the DC Wammies Best Advocacy Award. Jesénia currently sits as an associate board member for Friends of Music Concerts.
Jesénia holds a Master of Music degree in Screen Scoring from New York University (2020) and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Spelman College (2018).

Jesénia's work on the film Sonny's Blues was the most challenging aspect of the project. The music Jesénia conceptualized and fully orchestrated left me gobsmacked.
